TITHES AND GIFTS
The earth is the LORD's, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it… . Psalm 24:1
Some mill workers find Christian truth in the refining process used to produce alloys from elements. Iron and carbon are heated to tremendous temperatures in huge containers—crucibles—then cooled to become steel, a valuable product with a wide range of uses. In the crucible, impurities are burned away, and the original elements are recombined to create a stronger, purer product, well suited for its purpose.
Christ uses the church as a crucible for our lives. Our impurities can be removed, and our gifts, talents, tithes and offerings can be recombined with those of others to create Christians who are stronger, purer and perfect for the purposes He has called us to.
But who can endure the day of his coming? Who can stand when he appears? For he will be like a refiner's fire or a launderer's soap. He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver; he will purify the Levites and refine them like gold and silver. Then the LORD will have men who will bring offerings in righteousness, and the offerings of Judah and Jerusalem will be acceptable to the LORD, as in days gone by, as in former years.
Malachi 3:2–4

You’ve probably seen them slip quietly though our doors. An individual, a couple, or a family with children. They live on the edge, and truly do not know where the next meal is coming from, or if tonight they’ll be sleeping in a bed, or in the woods. We are able to provide food and shelter for a night. Our church sets aside $xxxx to meet these and other immediate needs such as bus fare.
